In a tragic incident, the body of an 88-year-old woman was discovered in the waters of the river in the Urban Galindo area of Barakaldo. The finding was made around 4pm on Monday, according to reports by the newspaper 'El Correo'.

The discovery was initially made by a passerby, who alerted the emergency services by calling 112 around 4:50pm. The Municipal Police of Barakaldo, Ertzaintza units from the Sestao station, the Red Cross, and Firefighters were present at the scene.

The body was found face down near Francobelga street. The circumstances surrounding the incident are not yet known, and an autopsy will be conducted at the Basque Institute of Legal Medicine (IVML) in Bilbao to determine the cause of death.
