Discussion on Liquefied Natural Gas: Examining Local and International Possibilities

In a significant move for the energy sector, Baker Hughes has taken over Chart, marking a new chapter in the industry. This deal, along with several others, underscores the growing importance of LNG in the broader energy landscape.

Meanwhile, in the realm of industrial gas technology, Hysytech, a specialist company, has been making strides. In an interview with Steven Harrison, Andres Saldivia, responsible for business development at Hysytech, emphasized the significance of local production in the context of bio-LNG and biomethane.

Hysytech's focus is on developing three-stage membrane technology, which offers high recovery and the lowest methane losses. The company has also invested in CO2 recovery to make bio-CO2 available.

Nikkiso Clean Energy, another key player, started working with LNG as a fuel in 2013 and is now working on hydrogen fuel stations in the US and South Korea. They have about 35 hydrogen fuel stations under development, with the majority of pumps currently being for terminals, but they are also working on ammonia pumps for big projects in the Middle East.

Discussions regarding the use of ammonia in various projects are ongoing. The carbon footprint of biomethane and bio-LNG is significantly lower than that of fossil alternatives, making them attractive alternatives.

In the agricultural sector, Denmark boasts large farms and plants, while Germany has smaller ones. However, huge strides in bio-LNG and biomethane are currently being made at ground level, with people just starting to realize their importance.

Alfa Laval has recently acquired the cryogenics business unit of Fives, another step forward in the industry. There has been a significant shift in marine technologies, including the use of methanol, hydrogen, and ammonia, reflecting the growing interest in renewable energy sources.

In recent weeks, Ranger Global Services has partnered with Hysytech, specializing in industrial gas technology. Andres Saldivia stated that there is no technical difference between fossil alternatives and biomethane or bio-LNG, but the greatest impact of these renewable sources is that they need to be produced locally. This local production is key to reducing the carbon footprint and making a meaningful impact on the environment.

In conclusion, the energy sector is undergoing a transformative period, with companies like Baker Hughes, Hysytech, Nikkiso Clean Energy, Alfa Laval, and Ranger Global Services leading the charge. The shift towards renewable sources like bio-LNG and biomethane, coupled with local production, promises a greener and more sustainable future.
