In the early hours of August 30, 2025, a disturbing incident unfolded at the main bus station in Gelsenkirchen's Old Town. A 41-year-old man, who is believed to be homeless in Germany and potentially under the influence of intoxicating substances, threatened three individuals without provocation.

The threatened individuals were two women aged 18 and 20, and an 18-year-old man. A physical altercation ensued between the 41-year-old and the 18-year-old, during which the aggressor delivered a kick. Two Bogestra employees bravely intervened and subdued the man until the police arrived.

The 18-year-old and the two Bogestra employees were slightly injured during the altercation. The police took the individual to the police station for a blood test and provisionally arrested him.

The Gelsenkirchen Police Headquarters is investigating the incident. The investigation has revealed that the 41-year-old had previously threatened Bogestra employees. The police are focusing on charges of bodily harm, resistance against law enforcement, insult, and threat.
