District heating facility under development on Deimlingstraße causes traffic disruptions
In August 2018, construction commenced for the district heating project at the Parkhotel in Pforzheim City. This initiative is part of an effort to increase the reliability of the district heating system.
The construction, which is scheduled to last until early November, involves the replacement of a damaged steel jacket pipe, approximately 300 meters in length. The project is divided into several phases, and the specific details of these phases have not been specified in this article.
The construction work will affect the Parkhotel in Pforzheim City. In order to accommodate the renovation, a new replacement route must be established for the district heating line at the Parkhotel. The replacement route begins at Deimlingstraße House No. 17 and ends at the intersection of Deimlingstraße/Am Waisenhausplatz.
Due to space constraints and existing construction on the existing district heating line at the Parkhotel, the existing route between Auerbrücke and Nonnenmühlsteg cannot be used for the line renewal. As a result, during the construction period, the right-turn lane from Waisenhausplatz towards Deimlingstraße to the Floßviertel will be closed.
To minimise disruption, shut-off valves will be installed at the tie-in points Deimlingstraße and Am Waisenhausplatz to avoid supply interruptions during the heating period.
The affected bus traffic will be rerouted via Sedanplatz and Calwerstraße, with stops at Sedanplatz and the replacement stop in Calwer Straße being served alternatively. The bus traffic of lines 5, 6, 10, and 63 will not be able to serve the stops Am Waisenhausplatz and Floßviertel cityward for approximately two weeks starting Monday.
All residents and affected companies were informed personally and in advance by the SWP about the upcoming construction work. It is important to note that this article is archived, and some information (such as phone numbers and dates) may no longer be current.
The renovation of the heat supply line for the Parkhotel in Pforzheim will begin in 2025 and is expected to be completed by the end of 2025 or early 2026. The construction is an essential step towards improving the district heating system's reliability and ensuring the continued provision of heat to the Parkhotel and the surrounding area.
