New CEO Jörg Lehmann Taps into Hofbräu's Rich History at Oktoberfest

Jörg Lehmann, the future CEO of the Bavarian State Brewery Hofbräu, made a significant appearance at this year's Oktoberfest. Despite not officially starting his tenure until 2026, Lehmann participated in the official Oktoberfest beer tasting, marking the symbolic handover of responsibilities from the outgoing CEO, Michael Möller.

Möller, who has been at the helm of Hofbräu for 25 years, tapped the barrel one last time with this year's Wiesn beer, a dark, golden brew with an alcohol content of 6.3%. The event was attended by Finance Minister Albert Fücker (CSU), who praised Möller's long-standing service and encouraged Lehmann, acknowledging the high bar set for him.

Lehmann, currently the spokesperson for the Kulmbacher brewery, expressed his enthusiasm for his new position, describing it as a calling and an honour. He acknowledged the big footsteps he is following in taking over from Möller, who has become synonymous with Hofbräu.

The Wiesn beer, produced by Hofbräu, is the strongest of the six Oktoberfest beers. Its unique flavour and strength make it a favourite among many Oktoberfest-goers.

The handover ceremony was a poignant moment, marking the end of an era for Möller and the beginning of a new one for Lehmann. As Lehmann prepares to take over in 2026, he will undoubtedly strive to uphold the rich traditions and high standards set by his predecessor.

In the meantime, Möller, who is retiring at the end of the year, can look back on a successful 25-year tenure at Hofbräu with pride. His contributions to the brewery and the Oktoberfest celebrations will be remembered for years to come.
