New General Practitioner Joins Bünde Practice with Support from "From Practice to Practice" Funding Program

Dr. Sara Kammann, a former medical director of the interdisciplinary emergency room at Lukas Hospital in Bünde, has joined the Bünde practice of Dr. Diekmann & Dr. Hense as a "practice maker" in January 2025. This move was facilitated by the "From Practice to Practice" funding program, a joint initiative launched by the Herford district and KVWL in 2022.

The Bünde practice team now consists of ten doctors and 22 medical assistants. Dr. Kammann's practice is located on Sedanstraße, but the Bünde practice association also includes locations on Herforder Straße and Wiehenstraße.

Dr. Kammann chose the practice of Dr. Diekmann and Dr. Hense as her mentoring practice due to their professional relationship. Since joining the team, she has reported gaining around 500 new patients in the last half year.

The "From Practice to Practice" program covers the salary of the "practice makers" and the practice's ancillary wage costs. It also provides settlement funding for newly founded, continued, or taken-over general practitioner practices. Over 30 such funding packages have already been paid out.

Landrat Jürgen Müller, the district's chief administrative officer, emphasized the importance of the primary care system as a central component of the communal infrastructure. The Herford district has invested over 800,000 euros in this measure package.

The "Measures package to strengthen medical care in the Herford district" was decided upon by the district council in 2019. Nine out of ten practice makers who participated in the program have ended up in the care system in the Herford district. The funding is distributed among various municipalities in the Herford district: 15 times in Herford, 7 times in Vlotho, 4 times in Kirchlengern, 5 times in Löhne, once in Hiddenhausen, and once in Rödinghausen.

In 2025, Dr. Julia Müller started as the "practice founder" at the practice of Dr. Diekmann & Dr. Hense on Sedanstraße in Bünde within the "From Practice to Practice" funding program. Two more practice makers started in July 2025, according to Marius Tönsmann from the district health department.

Prior to joining the Bünde practice, Dr. Kammann was the medical director of the interdisciplinary emergency room at Lukas Hospital in Bünde. She appreciates the closeness to patients as a general practitioner, contrasting it with the quick separations in clinical acute and emergency medicine.

Dr. Marianne Grundl, the previous practice owner, was able to reduce her hours after Dr. Diekmann and Dr. Hense took over the practice. The Bünde practice team now consists of ten doctors and 22 medical assistants, providing comprehensive healthcare services to the community.
