A tragic incident occurred on Sunday afternoon, as a 23-year-old driver lost control of their vehicle on the L1135 near Wurmberg. The accident took place at the height of the highway bridge of the Pforzheim-South on-ramp, leading to a head-on collision with a bridge pillar.

The collision resulted in fatal injuries for the driver, and emergency services were swiftly dispatched to the scene. A total of 27 firefighters from Pforzheim, one ambulance, one emergency doctor's vehicle, and one rescue helicopter were deployed to manage the situation.

The road was temporarily closed to allow for the landing of the rescue helicopter. Due to a fuel leakage from the severely damaged vehicle, the road also had to be washed to ensure safety.

The exact cause of the driver's loss of control remains unknown, and investigations by the Pforzheim Traffic Directorate are still ongoing. The police officer leading the accident investigations has not been publicly disclosed.
