However, it was her grandmother, who worked as a housekeeper at Johns Hopkins Hospital, who truly instilled in her a long-lasting connection and motivation to work there herself.

She was recruited into the Administrative Development Program, one of the inaugural participants, and has since embraced new challenges, mentored colleagues, and taken on leadership roles, including her recent promotion to supervisor.
Outside of work, Donna is actively involved in her church, currently serving as the secretary for the greeters ministry. Her interpersonal skills are one of her biggest strengths, being known as someone who can "work her magic" in difficult situations. This was evident when she had a moment of pride in helping an international student who was considering suicide, having an open and personal conversation with her.

In her personal life, Donna Sims enjoys traveling and has recently discovered that she can travel alone. She plans to go to a different location abroad every year.
