Drone-based Chipotle restaurant deliveries launching under the name 'Zipotle'
Fast-food giant Chipotle is diving into the world of drone delivery with its new service, Zipotle. This innovative initiative is a collaboration between Chipotle and drone delivery company Zipline.
Currently, Zipotle is undergoing testing only in the Dallas area, with no official announcements regarding expansion to other cities. The service will initially be available in Rowlette, Texas, a Dallas suburb.
Zipotle is positioned as a quick and convenient source of delivery, aiming to bring Chipotle's real food to customers in places that are traditionally challenging to serve, such as backyards and public parks. Curt Garner, President, Chief Strategy and Technology Officer at Chipotle, stated, "Zipotle allows guests to enjoy real food in places that are traditionally challenging to serve."
The drone used for Zipotle delivery hovers at approximately 300 feet, flying to the customer's address. Once it arrives, the drone drops the order down via a carrier. Customers can order through the Zipline app for Zipotle delivery.
