Regrettably, despite these regulations, incidents such as the tragic drowning of Kalista, a 19-month-old girl, 22 years ago, continue to occur. The incident took place during an aperitif, when her mother, Véronique Benguigui, went to get her second daughter from her nap and returned to find Kalista missing. The family was at the brother's house, where a new pool had been built, and the incident happened outside the supervised bathing area.

More recently, Didier Jourde, 71, had a near-drowning incident at a beach last year. The sea was rough during the incident, and Didier spent a week between life and death and three weeks in the hospital. His wife, Viviane Jourde, is now afraid and does not want him to go to the beach anymore.

Matéo Nicolas, a SNSM lifeguard, emphasizes the importance of swimming in supervised bathing areas, not overestimating physical abilities, hydrating well, and taking the time to warm up to prevent accidents. However, the law regarding pool safety is not always followed, with some people giving excuses such as it not being aesthetic or expensive.

Despite the tragic incidents and the regulations in place, the family of Kalista, who lost their daughter due to a lack of pool safety, remains traumatized and outraged at the cost of a child's life being disregarded in favor of aesthetics or expense. They urge pool owners to prioritize safety measures and comply with the regulations to prevent such tragedies from happening again.
