On Tuesday, July 30, 2024, a 23-year-old Albanian man was arrested in the Dyer Street residential neighbourhood during a routine patrol. The man, who was homeless at the time, was found driving a car at a slow speed and behaving suspiciously.

Upon closer inspection, officers discovered a white substance in the center console of the man's car. Suspecting drugs, they called in the dog unit for deployment. The police dog soon detected drugs in a bag and under the shift lever cover.

A thorough search of the suspect's car led to the discovery of a hideout for drugs. Inside this hideout, officers found a total of 59 zip-top bags containing 27.5 grams of cocaine.

Accompanying the drugs, a bag of drugs was also found in the hideout. The hideout's exact location and construction details were not disclosed.

The man was arrested and will be brought before a judge on the same day of the arrest. The drugs found in the man's car and the hideout were all identified as cocaine.

No further information was provided regarding how the hideout was accessed or secured, or who the police officer was who initially suspected drugs in the vehicle. The arrest marks a significant step in the ongoing efforts to combat drug-related crimes in the area.
