Dubai witnesses the conclusion of its first prosperous Energy Savings Performance Contract, executed by Etihad ESCO.

Dubai's ESPC project has marked a significant milestone in the city's transformation into a smart, green city. Completed in 2024 by the Etihad Energy Services Company (Etihad ESCO), the project underscores Dubai's aspirations to become a global center for innovation and energy efficiency.

The ESPC project, launched in 2015, was a retrofit project involving numerous facilities owned by Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA). The retrofit included improvements to heating, ventilation, air conditioning, lighting, water systems, and building insulation. The project's success reaffirms the commitment of all parties involved in advancing Dubai's sustainability goals.

One of the key highlights of the project was the installation of advanced chillers with a magnetic bearing system at DEWA's headquarters. This installation, along with other energy and cost efficiency measures, has been successfully implemented in prominent Dubai facilities such as Dubai International Airport and Dubai World Trade Centre.

The project has resulted in impressive savings. It has saved 35.2 gigawatt hours of electricity, conserved 2.8 million imperial gallons of water, and reduced nearly 1,452 tonnes of CO2 emissions. These results align with the Dubai Demand Side Management Strategy 2050.

Dr. Waleed Alnuaimi, CEO of Etihad ESCO, emphasized the project's success as an illustration of the strong collaboration between DEWA and Etihad ESCO in achieving sustainability goals. The project's completion adds to the growing body of evidence supporting Dubai's reputation as a leader in energy efficiency and sustainability initiatives.

The project's success is a testament to the effectiveness of the Energy Savings Performance Contract (ESPC) model in driving sustainable development. It underscores the potential for similar projects to contribute to Dubai's long-term sustainability and energy efficiency goals.

The project's completion reinforces the Dubai Demand Side Management Strategy 2050's objectives and goals. It serves as a significant demonstration of the progress being made in Dubai's transformation into a smart, green city. The project reinforces Etihad ESCO's dedication to promoting sustainable practices and shaping Dubai's green future.
