Düsseldorf Elite Club triumphs in a spirited match against Frankfurt Lions, securing an impressive 8-4 victory.

In an exciting match on Sunday, February 23, the Düsseldorf EG (DEG) emerged victorious against the Frankfurt Lions with a score of 8:4. The game was a rollercoaster ride, with both teams scoring multiple goals throughout the period.

The DEG had to adapt to the absence of Roßmy, with Head coach Steven Reinprecht fielding seven defensemen and eleven forwards. Henrik Haukeland guarded the goal for the DEG, making crucial saves to secure the win.

Frankfurt started the first period strongly, scoring the first two goals. Maksim Matushkin, in particular, shone for Frankfurt, scoring both goals in the first period. His second goal came 28 seconds before the end of the period, setting the stage for an exciting finish to the first half.

Matushkin continued his impressive form in the second period, scoring his third goal of the day for Frankfurt. However, the DEG fought back, with Tyler Gaudet scoring his second goal of the game at 22 minutes and 57 seconds, tying the score at 2:2. O'Donnell assisted on the goal, with Kyle Cumiskey also getting a piece of the action.

Gaudet then scored his third goal of the game in the third period, making it 8:4 for Düsseldorf at 52 minutes and 29 seconds. Jakub Borzecki and Gaudet combined for the goal, with Borzecki getting the assist.

The first period belonged to Frankfurt, but the DEG fought back strongly in the second and third periods to secure the win. The win earned Düsseldorf three points that are crucial in the relegation battle.

Düsseldorf also had to survive 70 seconds in double penalty kill in the second period, demonstrating their resilience and determination. Sinan Akdag scored the first goal for Düsseldorf from the rear, with an assist from Jakub Borzecki. Alec McCrea also got in on the scoring action, scoring at 36 minutes and 40 seconds, making it 5:3. Gogulla scored the equalizer for Düsseldorf in the second period, making it 3:3 at 31 minutes and 13 seconds (assist from Alex Ehl).

Overall, it was a thrilling encounter between the two teams, with both teams showing their attacking prowess. Tyler Gaudet and Briean O'Donnell were in scoring form for the DEG, with Gaudet scoring three goals and O'Donnell getting two assists.
