Dusseldorf encountering traffic congestion due to a truck accident on the A46 highway Monday morning.
On Monday morning at 5:49 AM, an accident occurred on the A46 between Holthausen and Kreuz Düsseldorf-Süd, disrupting traffic in the direction of Wuppertal.
The incident involved a truck and a car, and during the collision, the truck collided with a concrete barrier and came to a stop diagonally across the road. As a result, the truck's tank was damaged, causing a significant fuel spill.
Fortunately, no one was injured in the accident. However, the accident caused a backup in traffic for several kilometers in both directions, and the A46 remained closed until around 1:30 PM for cleanup and recovery operations.
A specialized company was contracted to clean up the fuel spill, and several meters of grass verge had to be dug out during the process. The backup in traffic also affected the detour routes, causing further congestion.
The police have initiated an investigation into the cause of the accident, and the search results do not contain information about the location of the 50-year-old truck driver involved in the incident. A 20-year-old was driving the car that collided with the stationary articulated truck.
The accident occurred during rush hour, and the cleanup and recovery operation took until mid-morning. The police are working to determine the cause of the accident and ensure the safety of the road for motorists.
