In a disappointing turn of events, the German ice hockey team Kaarst has been eliminated in the quarterfinals of the recent tournament. Despite a valiant effort, the team was unable to reach the semifinals, joining their fellow German teams who also failed to advance.

Kaarst's journey through the tournament was not without its highlights. They managed to secure victories against Cardiff (5:2) and Krefeld (4:3 in overtime). However, their performances over the weekend were not enough to propel them further in the competition.

The quarterfinal match against IHC Rothrist proved to be a challenging one for Kaarst. They trailed 0:3 against IHC Rothrist after just 10 minutes, a deficit that seemed insurmountable. Moritz Otten managed to score a solo goal for Kaarst, bringing the score to 1:3. Patrick Petau added another goal for Kaarst at halftime, making the score 2:3. Dominick Thum equalized the score with a well-placed shot, but Kaarst conceded a fourth goal during the game. Tim-Niklas Wolff scored a goal for Kaarst, making it 3:4, but they were unable to score again, ending their tournament run in the quarterfinals.

Meanwhile, the Danish team from Gentofte emerged victorious, beating Lugano 4:3 in the final of the tournament. It's worth noting that Gentofte also won the tournament in 2018, demonstrating their consistent dominance in the competition.

In the subsequent placement games, Kaarst finished fifth. Other teams in the tournament included Cologne, who finished seventh, Krefeld in sixth place, and the Duisburg Ducks who finished ninth.

Despite the disappointing end to their tournament run, Kaarst can take pride in their hard-fought battles and the entertainment they provided to the spectators. They will undoubtedly regroup and come back stronger in their next competition.
