Social media platform TikTok has rolled out a new feature that allows users to create animated avatars as their profile photos. These avatars, which are generated by AI, provide a more dynamic alternative to traditional static profile pictures.
To create a TikTok avatar, users need to update their app to the latest version and follow a few simple steps. First, they are prompted to select at least three photos for the avatar, with good quality photos featuring different facial expressions and angles producing better results. After choosing the photos, users should tap on the "Create" button to let TikTok's AI generate the avatar.
The avatar creation process may take a few minutes as the AI analyses the user's facial features and expressions. Users can then select at least two styles that match the appearance of the avatar they want. If they aren't satisfied with their avatar, they can return to the avatar creator tool and choose new photos to generate a fresh avatar.
Once the avatar is generated, users can customise its appearance. They can choose up to five different styles for their avatar and customise its background with shapes, text bubbles, and fun backdrops using photo editing apps. Users can also download the avatar images and use them to create short animated clips.
One of the benefits of TikTok avatars is that they offer more anonymity as they don't show the user's real face. The AI avatar feature generates avatars in different poses and expressions based on real photos, providing a unique and personal touch.
Users can insert their avatar into their TikTok videos as a virtual host or recurring character, adding an extra layer of creativity to their content. Creating and using TikTok avatars is completely free, making them accessible to all users.
