ED summons to lawyer confronted in Karnataka High Court, decision on challenge yet to be announced

The Karnataka High Court has reserved its verdict on a plea filed by Advocate Anil Gowda, challenging summons issued by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with a money laundering case.

Anil Gowda, who is a legal consultant to Congress MLA KC Veerendra Puppy, is the subject of the investigation. The case, titled [Anil Gowda H v. Directorate of Enforcement], involves allegations of illegal betting and gambling.

The Enforcement Directorate, the issuing authority of the summons, is investigating the case, which is being heard in the Karnataka High Court.

Anil Gowda's plea argues that the summons issued by the ED are unjustified and that he should not be required to appear before the ED in connection with the money laundering case. The lawyer representing him in the case is Adv. Kumar Avinash.

The money laundering case is not the first time that Anil Gowda has been embroiled in controversy. Previously, he was also in the news for his role as a legal consultant to Congress MLA KC Veerendra Puppy.
