The voluntary surrender took place at the battalion's headquarters in Kabengi village, Ampatuan, Maguindanao del Sur, on September 4, 2025. The surrendered members handed over their weapons to the 90IB and their names were not publicly disclosed.

Major General Donald Gumiran, 6th Infantry Division commander, commended the efforts of the 601st Infantry Brigade (601Bde) and 90IB for facilitating the surrender. He reiterated that the government, through the Balik-Loob Program, is ready to support former BIFF members so that they can live peacefully and productively for the future of their families and communities.

Major General Gumiran praised the surrender as a clear sign that the government's call for reconciliation is heard and accepted. He encouraged others in the mountains to follow the example of the BIFF members and surrender, as the government's door is open to anyone who wants to return.

The surrendered members were presented to Brigadier General Edgar Catu, 601Bde commander. As part of the Balik-Loob Program, the eight BIFF surrenderers received immediate financial assistance, livelihood programs, and sacks of rice from the municipal governments of Shariff Aguak, Datu Saudi Ampatuan, and Datu Hoffer.

The unity of the government, local government, police, and community in promoting peace was highlighted as a key factor in the successful surrender of the eight BIFF members. This unity is considered a proof of the effectiveness of the efforts to promote peace in the region.
