Elderly Bike Enthusiasts Prevail in Town of Borken

The town of Gronau is set to host a Senior Cycling event, a new initiative aimed at promoting safety and prevention for older cyclists. This event is part of the preventive work of the Circular and Police Department and follows the same concept as previous ones held in Borken, Bocholt, and Ahaus.

The Senior Cycling event in Gronau is scheduled to take place on 28th August 2025. The kick-off event will provide participants with route guidance based on current accident hotspots in the circular area, critical traffic situations discussions with experts, and tips on behaviour at intersections, roundabouts, correct use of cycle paths, and the importance of safety equipment, particularly for Pedelecs and E-bikes.

The event is limited to a maximum of twelve participants to cater to individual needs. The media representatives can contact the Circular Police Department Borken for more information or to register for the event. Registration for the participants can be done by phone at 02861-900-6161, with participants receiving a callback.

Besides Gronau, the future locations for the project "Senior Cycling" include Freiburg, where "Radeln ohne Alter" started in 2020 to offer rickshaw rides for seniors and people with limited mobility. The town of Circular Borken has the highest Pedelec ownership rate nationwide, making it an ideal location for such an event.

The importance of helmets, lights, and traffic-safe equipment cannot be overstated, and these aspects will be emphasized throughout the Senior Cycling event. The route guidance in Senior Cycling is designed to help cyclists navigate potentially dangerous areas and improve their overall safety on the roads.

The Senior Cycling event in Gronau is an additional event to the ones previously scheduled in Borken, Bocholt, and Ahaus. Further dates for Senior Cycling events are scheduled for Bocholt on 9th October 2025 and Ahaus on 30th October 2025.

For media queries, the contact persons are Sandra Biedermann (sb), Leonie Dreier (ld), Markus Huls (mh), Peter Lefering (pl), Thorsten Ohm (to), Muzeyyen Sander (ms), Tina Schellberg (ts). The information about the Senior Cycling event was originally transmitted via news aktuell by the Circular Police Department Borken.

The Senior Cycling event in Gronau is likely to have a similar structure as the previous ones, with a focus on safety, prevention, and practical guidance for older cyclists. By participating in this event, cyclists can improve their skills, increase their confidence, and enjoy a safer cycling experience.
