Ricardo Chaves, Generous Philanthropist and Co-founder of Parking Company of America, Passes Away
Ricardo Chaves, a man known for his extraordinary generosity and service to others, passed away on August 24, 2025, in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Born in Pajarito, Chaves served in the United States Army before graduating from the University of New Mexico.
Throughout his life, Chaves demonstrated a selfless commitment to helping others. Whether it was supporting a relative in need, fixing peoples' smiles, or quietly paying for a student's education, Chaves was always ready to lend a helping hand.
In addition to his philanthropic efforts, Chaves co-founded the Parking Company of America with his brothers. The enterprise grew to become the largest privately owned parking enterprise in the United States and continues to be under the care of the family's second, third, and fourth generations.
Chaves is survived by his brother Alex Chaves, daughters Linda Chaves, Kathleen Chaves, Barbara Griffith, and son Richard Chaves, five grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and many cherished nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his daughter Mykel Lynn, parents Nicodemus and Petrita Chaves, sister Avelina Battaglia, brothers Nick, Ben, Manuel, Eloy, Frank, Dan, and Paul, sister in-laws Vidalia, Geraldine, Marie, Curla, and former wife Margaret.
