Elderly man Hattinger, aged 91, has been handed over to a fraudster by Polish authorities.

The Ennepe-Ruhr District Police have launched an investigation into a fraud incident that took place on August 15, 2025, in Hattingen.

At approximately 1:00 PM, a 91-year-old resident of Hattingen was victimised by a fraud scheme. The incident occurred at the resident's residence.

The fraud involved a call from a woman claiming to represent the resident's bank, asking him to withdraw a low five-figure sum in various denominations. The resident, believing the woman to be genuine, withdrew the money and maintained constant telephone contact with the perpetrator during the withdrawal process.

Later, a woman, described as approximately 20 years old, about 170 cm tall, with brown hair tied in a ponytail, brown eyes, wearing brown linen pants and open summer shoes, and apparently of Eastern European origin, visited the resident's residence and collected the cash.

The suspect is described as a woman, with no further details about her location specified.
