Elections Results in La Plata: Javier Milei to Retreat to His Fortress Regardless of Outcome

In the upcoming Buenos Aires midterm elections, a group of candidates are vying for positions, including Diego Valenzuela, Natalia Blanco, Maximiliano Bondarenko, Gonzalo Cabezas, Guillermo Montenegro, Oscar Liberman, Alejandro Speroni, and Francisco Adorni. Among these, the libertarian party is making a significant push for control of the legislature.

Meanwhile, Javier Milei, a prominent figure in the libertarian movement, has other plans for election day. Despite the elections, he is scheduled to attend the libertarian bunker at the Vonharv complex in La Plata. This decision remains unchanged regardless of the election outcome.

Milei spent his Sunday in the intimacy of the official residence of Olivos, having arrived from the United States the previous day for a quick meeting with businessmen. His day was relatively quiet, with the exception of skipping his usual opera night as he prepares to head to the bunker and spends the day reading.

Accompanied by his sister Karina, Milei will travel nearly 80 kilometers between the cities, leaving Olivos at 8 pm. Other libertarian personalities, such as economist José Luis Espert and journalist Eduardo Feinmann, are also expected to be present at the bunker complex.

Throughout his campaign, Milei visited several cities, including La Matanza, Junín, Lomas de Zamora, and Moreno. However, these visits were met with tense atmospheres, differences with the opposition, and even violent actions. In Junín and Lomas de Zamora, Milei was received with protests linked to Peronism, resulting in violent actions against him. In Lomas de Zamora, a city governed by Kirchnerism, Milei was attacked with stones.

Despite these challenges, electoral participation in Buenos Aires is expected to be high, with an estimated 60% of the population voting. This participation rate is in line with the historical average of the province, which is more than expected.

As the election day approaches, the candidates are gearing up for a close contest. The results are eagerly awaited to determine the future direction of the Buenos Aires legislature. Meanwhile, Javier Milei, the president of the Nation, is also expected to attend the elections, but his focus remains on the libertarian bunker.
