Electric GT takes the lead as flagship model at Polestar's lineup
The Swedish electric car manufacturer, Polestar, has announced the unveiling of its latest creation, the Polestar 5, at the IAA in Munich, happening from the 9th to the 14th of September. This five-meter-long grand tourer is set to make its grand entrance into the premium class, following in the footsteps of its predecessors.
Max Missoni, the Chief Development Director behind the design and technology development of the new Polestar 5, has led the team in bringing this vehicle to production with only minor changes from its concept version, which was previously showcased as the Precept concept five years ago.
The Polestar 5 is built on its own platform and comes in two models - a base model and a performance model. The base model offers a combined power of 550 kW/748 PS, while the performance model ups the ante with an impressive 650 kW/884 PS. Both models utilize an 800-volt architecture.
The performance model of the Polestar 5 boasts an impressive range of 565 kilometers and a top speed of 250 km/h. It can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in a breathtaking 3.1 seconds. The vehicle's battery is a 112 kWh unit, but the specifics of the performance model's battery have yet to be disclosed.
The Polestar 5 seats five people comfortably and is set to hit the market with a starting price of €119,900 for the base model. The performance model, however, carries a higher price tag of €142,900.
Polestar is confident that the Polestar 5 will redefine the grand tourer segment, offering a blend of performance, range, and style that is second to none. The Polestar 5 is not just a car; it's a statement of intent from a company determined to push the boundaries of what an electric vehicle can be.
The Polestar 5 is more than just a concept; it's the future of grand touring, and it's coming soon to a road near you. So, get ready to experience the thrill of the open road like never before with the Polestar 5.
