Electric Hatch Manufactured in Former Holden Factory: Unveiled Australian Pricing and Features of the GWM Ora Model in 2025
The Chinese automaker Great Wall Motor (GWM) has announced the release of its latest electric hatchback models, the GWM Ora Lux, Ora Ultra, and Ora GT, for the year 2026. These vehicles are set to make a significant impact in the electric vehicle market with their impressive features and competitive pricing.
Starting with the GWM Ora Lux, this model boasts a range of 400km (WLTP-rated) and a host of standard features. The Lux comes equipped with automatic dusk-sensing LED lighting, keyless entry with push-button start, rear privacy glass, and synthetic leather upholstery. Inside, drivers will find a 10.25-inch touchscreen and a 10.25-inch digital driver's display, while the driver's seat offers six-way electric adjustment and the front passenger seat features four-way adjustment. The Lux also includes single-zone automatic climate control.
The GWM Ora Lux rides on 18-inch alloy wheels and is priced at an affordable $35,990 drive away.
Moving on to the Ora Ultra, this limited edition model shares many of the Lux's features but adds a few extras. Heated, ventilated, and massaging front seats, a heated steering wheel, and a panoramic roof are just a few of the upgrades. The Ultra also includes a hands-free electric tailgate, automatic parking, auto-folding mirrors, and front parking sensors. The Ultra is priced at $37,990 drive away.
The Ora GT, the sportier member of the family, is based on the Ultra but features more aggressive exterior styling and additional features such as GT 18-inch wheels, launch control, and red brake callipers. The Ora GT is priced at $38,990 drive away.
All 2026 GWM Ora models will be powered by a new 57.7kWh LFP battery, developed in-house by GWM, and will use a 125kW/250Nm front electric motor.
Interestingly, the former mid-spec Ultra has been re-added to the 2026 GWM Ora lineup, suggesting that GWM is targeting the mid-range electric vehicle market with these models.
The new GWM Ora models are now being built in a former General Motors factory in Thailand.
While detailed price and equipment levels for GWM Ora models in other countries are not explicitly listed, similar Great Wall Motor vehicles such as the Wey 05 plug-in hybrid suggest that the Ora models may be competitively equipped in the electric vehicle segment with prices likely targeted around the mid-range segments, roughly in the 40,000–50,000 euro range.
With their impressive range, competitive pricing, and extensive features, the 2026 GWM Ora models are poised to make a strong impact in the electric vehicle market.
