Electric Vehicles accounted for a substantial 25.5% of the German automobile market in July 2022.

In the automotive market of Germany, electric vehicles are making a significant impact, as shown in the latest statistics from July 2022.

Battery electric vehicles (BEV) accounted for 14% of the new registrations, marking a 13.2% increase compared to the same month last year. This growth in BEVs is noteworthy, as they surpassed the market share of diesel cars, which saw a decline, with a 11.3% decrease in registrations compared to July 2021, resulting in a 20.1% market share.

Interestingly, the brand Skoda took the lead in the BEV market in Germany, surpassing Tesla. Tesla's share was declining rapidly at that time, primarily due to Skoda's broad portfolio and attractive prices.

On the other hand, plugin hybrid electric vehicles (PHEV) had a market share of 11.5%, but registrations saw a 21.4% decrease compared to July 2021, with 23,712 PHEVs registered in July 2022.

Gasoline vehicles still hold a significant market share of 36%, but registrations also saw a decrease, with 74,094 gasoline-powered passenger cars registered, marking a 20.5% decrease compared to July 2021.

These trends suggest a shift towards electric vehicles in Germany, as traditional fuel types continue to decline. As the market evolves, it will be interesting to see how these trends develop in the coming months.
