The popular quiz format "Who Knows That?" is set to return on October 13, with a new twist. According to a press release from the broadcaster ARD, Wotan Wilke Möhring will be the new captain of the rating team.
Wotan Wilke Möhring, a versatile German actor and musician, known for his roles in films like Das Experiment, Männerherzen, and as Detective Thorsten Falke in Tatort, will take on the captain's role. With over 120 film and TV productions under his belt and a varied career that includes stints as an electrician, soldier, bouncer, and visual communication student, Möhring brings a wealth of experience to the show.
Möhring's appointment as captain was confirmed in the circulating reports, and his fellow team captain, Bernhard Hoecker, expresses his curiosity about how Möhring will apply his investigative tactics to the quiz format. Hoecker, who is also excited about the new season, describes Möhring as a great guy who brings a lot of knowledge, loves to win, and has a big heart.
Regular episodes of "Who Knows That?" will air weekdays at 6:00 PM, starting from the new season. Before becoming a team captain, Möhring has previous experience as a quiz show participant. If he doesn't know the answer to a question, he will try to guess as well as he can.
Kai Pflaume will remain the moderator of the show, and another "Who Knows That? XXL" episode is planned for October 11, airing at 8:15 PM on ARD. The "Who Knows That? XXL" episode on October 11 will precede the start of the new season.
Elton, who has been a part of the show in its previous seasons, will not return for the 12th season. However, fans can look forward to Möhring's fresh take on the show, as he is open to answering questions ranging from the absurd to the incredible.
Bernhard Hoecker is also set to return as a team captain in the new season, and he references Möhring's role as Commissioner Thorsten Falke in the Hamburg "Tatort" as a testament to Möhring's intelligence and quick thinking.
