Elvis Fans Furious: 'Hologram' Show a Low-Quality 'Scam'
Elvis fans have been left disappointed and upset after attending 'Elvis Evolution' in London, expecting a hologram concert by Elvis Presley but finding a low-quality theatrical performance instead. The show, which uses AI to upscale archive footage, has received mixed reviews and raised concerns about mis-selling and lack of strobe light warnings.
The event, presented as a 'theatrical experience' with archived footage, has drawn criticism from attendees who felt misled. Lizzie Ward, who visited the show, described it as 'low quality' and is seeking a refund. Mark and Tracey Baldwin, who had VIP tickets, called the show 'absolutely atrocious' and feel they were scammed. Paige Rannigan was left in tears, expressing concerns about lack of strobe light/flash warnings for those with epilepsy.
Critics have given mixed reviews. The Telegraph awarded it one star, while CityAM described it as 'incredibly touching' in a four-star review. The show is set to run at ExCel London until December, with plans to move to other cities not yet confirmed. Tickets range from £75 to £300, with some attendees feeling they were conned and mis-sold the experience by Ticketmaster. On Sunday, some shows were cancelled due to an attendee becoming verbally aggressive towards staff, leading to a heated situation that disrupted the show.
Layered Reality, the show's creators, state that the initial concept of a hologram concert by Elvis Presley evolved, and this was communicated when tickets went on sale in October 2024. Despite the mixed reviews and concerns, Elvis Evolution continues to run at ExCel London until December.
