Encouraging Aspiring Visionaries: Future Founders Challenge 2025 at UPES
UPES (University of Petroleum and Energy Studies) has announced the Future Founders Challenge 2025, a competition designed to foster entrepreneurship and innovation among students from Classes 9 to 12 across India.
Runway Incubator, a leading hub for innovation and entrepreneurship within UPES, is spearheading this initiative. The competition aims to provide a platform for young innovators to develop solutions for real-world problems, gain hands-on experience of the start-up journey, and showcase their ideas on a national stage.
The application window for the Future Founders Challenge opened on 14th August 2025 and will close on 28th September 2025. Schools are invited to nominate their most creative and entrepreneurial students for this competition. Each school may nominate multiple teams, with each team consisting of two to three members. Each team must present a unique idea under a distinct team name.
Shortlisted teams will be announced on 1st October 2025, followed by a series of online workshops on 6th, 11th, and 15th October 2025. These workshops will offer participants the opportunity to work closely with mentors and industry experts, refine their entrepreneurial skills, and attend engaging workshops.
The winners will receive substantial cash prizes. The national champion team will receive Rs. 1,00,000, while the second-placed team will be awarded Rs. 50,000. Beyond monetary awards, participants will gain invaluable exposure, mentorship, and potential access to incubation opportunities through the UPES Runway Incubator.
Runway Incubator has secured a significant amount of funding, totaling more than Rs. 20 crore. It has also received support from various national and state-level organizations, including DST, NITI Aayog, BIRAC, and the Uttarakhand Government. Additionally, Runway Incubator has received grants totaling Rs. 2.5 crore from MeitY and CSR support from HDFC Bank.
UPES continues to focus on entrepreneurship and innovation, equipping young minds with the necessary skills, mindset, and network. As a testament to its commitment, UPES is recognized as India's leading private university for academic reputation in the QS 2025 rankings.
