Enforced Lockdown: Community Activity to Prevent Burglaries and Thefts
In a bid to enhance security and combat residential burglary, the Düsseldorf Police intensified their efforts on Tuesday, November 26, 2024. This major operation, which took place from 2:00 PM to 11:00 PM, aimed to increase visible presence in public spaces, gain insights into criminals, and exert investigative and control pressure on offender groups.
The strategic investigation, pursuant to Section 12a of the Police Act for the city area of Düsseldorf, is ongoing until Christmas. Uniformed and civilian deployment forces worked together during the operation to achieve these goals.
During the operation, a total of 219 people and 143 vehicles were checked. Investigators found jewelry and cash (5,000 euros) in an unregistered vehicle, suspected to be stolen goods. Six criminal charges and twenty-three administrative offense charges were drawn up during the operation.
Five arrest warrants were executed, and the suspects in a car with Norwegian registration, previously linked to burglary, were checked in the evening. However, due to lack of detention grounds, the suspects were released in the evening. A crime scene could not yet be assigned in relation to the suspects and the found items.
The cash, two expensive bracelets, and the car were secured by the officers. Senior Criminal Director Annette Henning, the head of the Criminal Police Directorate, emphasized the importance of consistent criminal prosecution and enforcement of arrest warrants.
