England cricketer Chris Woakes remains dedicated to the team's triumph, despite his injury.

On the final day of the fifth Test match between England and India, the home team finds itself in a precarious position, requiring 35 more runs to secure a 3-1 series victory. However, the unexpected loss of three wickets on day four has given India renewed hope.

The absence of all-rounder Chris Woakes, who was observed in the team dressing room on Sunday evening wearing his cricket whites and with his left arm immobilized in a sling, is a significant blow for England. Woakes, who sustained his injury during an attempt to stop a boundary on the first day of the match, is fully dedicated to assisting England in a series victory, despite nursing a shoulder injury.

Root's comments suggest that Woakes' participation in batting may still be a possibility, despite his injury. The England captain mentioned that Woakes had some throw-downs in the nets, indicating he is prepared to bat if needed. However, as of Friday, the England team reported that Woakes has been ruled out of any further participation in the Test match due to his injury.

The loss of Woakes has not deterred England's determination. The fourth wicket partnership between Root and Harry Brook resulted in 195 runs, leaving the team at 301-3 in their pursuit of 374 runs. Harry Brook was dismissed, followed by Jacob Bethell, leaving England requiring 37 runs to complete their chase.

If successful, England's chase would mark one of their highest successful chases in Test history. With four wickets still in hand, the final day of the match will determine whether England achieves a 3-1 series victory against India.

Root has expressed his admiration for Woakes, stating that he is prepared to put his body on the line for England to win the series. The team will undoubtedly miss Woakes' contributions, but their spirit remains undeterred as they strive for victory.
