Gamescom 2022 Breaks Records with Diverse Participation and High Attendance

The Gamescom festival, the most important event of the gaming culture, has once again proven its significance in the industry. Organised by Koelnmesse, this year's event took place over five days and attracted a record-breaking number of exhibitors from around the globe.

A total of 1,568 exhibitors from 72 countries participated in Gamescom 2022, setting a new record for diversity. The event saw large crowds and long lines, a testament to the growing popularity of the festival.

Last year's Gamescom, which took place amid the pandemic, had 335,000 visitors. However, this year's event saw a significant increase in attendance, with 357,000 visitors. This figure surpassed the previous record of 373,000 visitors set in 2019.

The Gamescom has always been a platform for showcasing the latest in gaming technology. This year was no exception, with numerous companies presenting new action, role-playing, and sports games. Among the highlights was Ubisoft Mainz, who presented their new game "Anno 1800: Pax Romana." Set in ancient times, this game offers a different version of the strategy classic "Anno 1800."

The trend towards handheld consoles with mini-displays was also visible at the Gamescom this year. The event showcased a variety of handheld devices, a nod to the early days of gaming when the Gameboy was a popular predecessor.

The online reach for Gamescom 2022 content reached an impressive 630 million viewers, setting a new record. Felix Falk, CEO of the Game association, stated that the Gamescom is setting new standards. He also noted that the event's continued success is a reflection of the growing interest in gaming culture.

Despite speculation about a potential move to Berlin, it has been confirmed that the Gamescom will take place again in Cologne next year. The Game association and Koelnmesse have extended their contract for the long term, ensuring the continued success of the festival.

In conclusion, Gamescom 2022 was a resounding success, breaking records for diversity, attendance, and online reach. The event showcased the latest in gaming technology, reinforcing its position as the most important festival of Games culture.
