Enhanced Dacia Duster Hybrid boasts a 10 horsepower increase and improved fuel efficiency
The popular Dacia Duster has received a significant update, with two new powertrain options now available for the Journey and Extreme models.
Starting with the powertrain, the 128bhp mild-hybrid engine has seen a boost of 10bhp, bringing its output to 138bhp. This boost is due to a new iteration of its 1.2-litre turbocharged three-cylinder petrol engine. The CO2 emissions for this updated engine have increased slightly to 122g/km, but the fuel economy remains the same at 52mpg.
The range-topping hybrid model of the Duster now boasts a new 153bhp system. This system includes a 109bhp four-cylinder petrol engine, a 49bhp electric motor, a starter-generator, and a 1.4kWh battery pack—0.2kWh larger than the previous one. Despite the increased power, the new hybrid model achieves the same 58mpg as before, but CO2 emissions have decreased by 7g/km to 105g/km.
The Extreme trim of the Duster now features black 18in alloy wheels, adding a touch of sportiness to the top-tier model. The Journey trim level has also received an upgrade, with new interior upholstery.
The high demand for the Duster has been a welcome challenge for Dacia. According to UK brand director Luke Broad, the brand has had to manage the volume of inquiries to dealers due to the increased interest in the Duster. Deliveries of the updated Duster models have increased by 22%, reflecting this increased demand.
Despite the increased demand, the current starting price for the mild hybrid Duster remains at £21,820, and the full hybrid starts at £24,830. However, it is expected that the new Duster models' pricing will see a slight increase. Order books for the updated Duster will open in November.
Luke Broad has praised the Mk3 Duster, calling it a "phenomenal success" for Dacia. With these updates, it seems that the Duster is set to continue its success in the UK market.
