In the heart of Hanau, preparations for the annual Christmas market are underway, but this year, visitors can expect an increased level of security.

The focus on security is due in part to the vigilance of the police authorities of Southeast Hesse, who are working tirelessly to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all. However, it's the Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution (Bundesamt für Verfassungsschutz, BfV) that takes the lead in overseeing security concerns related to the Christmas market, given its focus on right-wing extremism and domestic terrorism.

To address these concerns, a special Christmas market guard has been established. This guard is staffed by both state police and city police, providing increased security and points of contact for visitors throughout the market.

The Christmas market guard will be present from Monday to Saturday between 5 PM and 9 PM and on Sundays from 1 PM to 9 PM. This extended presence aims to ensure a secure environment for visitors, especially during the busiest hours.

As the festive season approaches, the people of Hanau can take comfort in knowing that their safety is a top priority. The Christmas market guard is just one more way that the authorities are working to make this year's market a memorable and safe event for all.
