Enhanced Media Strategy for 2020-2024 Surpasses Predicted Successes
The city of Hamm has achieved great strides in its Media Development Plan (MEP) 2020-2024, surpassing its initial goals. This success is a testament to the city's commitment to digital transformation and the future of education.
The city invested a total of 13.7 million euros, with its own contributions funding various programs. This investment has resulted in significant improvements, with all school locations in Hamm now connected via fiber optic cables and equipped with modern Wi-Fi and LAN.
Central IT structures in Hamm's schools have been modernized with the switch to uniform systems like IServ and Citrix. This upgrade has enabled an average device quota of over 70% in schools, allowing for a 1:1 or 1:2 ratio in many cases.
Mayor Marc Herter expressed his satisfaction with the results, stating that the feedback from schools indicates that the right decisions have been made. He also emphasized the city's commitment to continuing the media development concept for the period 2026-2030.
The focus of the continuation program is on maintaining the high level of equipment, replacement acquisitions, and the development of sustainable financing models that ensure fairness and social justice. This commitment is shared by the city, local educational authorities, school administrations, and digital education experts.
Karin Diebäcker, head of the department for school education, highlighted that the equipment in schools provides the conditions for modern digital media-based teaching. She was joined at the Media Development Plan 2020-2024 results presentation by Marion Kötters-Wenner (Chairperson of the Committee for Digitalization and Innovation), Ingo Drees (Deputy Head of the Department for School Education), and Mayor Marc Herter.
The city of Hamm was also able to secure an additional 15.7 million euros through funding for the continuation of the MEP. The presentation took place at Theodor-Heuss-Platz 165, Hamm. However, no new factual information about the results of the Media Development Plan was provided in this paragraph.
As the city of Hamm looks towards the future, it is clear that its commitment to digital transformation and education will continue to be a driving force in shaping the city's development. The Media Development Plan 2020-2024 results presentation marked a significant milestone in this journey, and the city is now eager to continue this momentum into the next phase of its Media Development Plan.
