Deutsche Telekom Expands Mobile Network in Landkreis Oberhavel

Deutsche Telekom AG has announced an expansion of its mobile network in Landkreis Oberhavel, aiming to improve coverage and bandwidth for residents and visitors in the district. The company currently operates 113 mobile network sites in Landkreis Oberhavel, with plans to add 18 more over the next three years.

The expansion will see the towns of Hohen Neuendorf, Oranienburg, and Hennigsdorf equipped with 18 additional mobile network sites. Moreover, 42 existing sites in Landkreis Oberhavel will be modernized with LTE or 5G technology.

Deutsche Funkturm, the company responsible for building and securing new locations for Telekom's mobile network, is seeking sites for rooftop or mast locations. Interested landlords can offer their properties via www.dfmg.de/standortangebot.

The coverage along the Brandenburg-Nord-Berlin railway line has been improved, ensuring a more reliable connection for passengers. Almost 100% of the population in Landkreis Oberhavel is now covered by the mobile network, with emergency calls and warnings possible at all sites.

In addition to improving coverage, the modernization of the mobile network sites will also enable the use of Advanced Mobile Location (AML) emergency technology and the Cell Broadcast warning system. AML automatically sends the caller's location to the emergency control center during 112 calls, while Cell Broadcast sends danger alerts to mobile phones in the affected cell, for example, in case of major fires, gas explosions, or floods.

Georg von Wagner, Deutsche Telekom spokesperson, stated that bandwidth demand is increasing by around 30% per year. To meet this growing demand, Telekom has around 36,000 mobile network sites in Germany, making it the network with the best coverage, according to expert magazines Chip, connect, ComputerBild, and Imtest.

The modernization of existing mobile antenna sites has taken place in Hennigsdorf and Hohen Neuendorf over the past four weeks, with two LTE antenna sites also expanded during this period. As the expansion continues, residents and visitors in Landkreis Oberhavel can look forward to improved mobile internet coverage, with the current coverage standing at 91%.
