Enhanced presence of school resource officers in MCPASD for the protection of students and staff.
The Middleton-Cross Plains Area School District (MCPASD) is expanding its School Resource Officer (SRO) program, bringing the total number of officers to four. This move is aimed at enhancing the district's safety measures.
MCPASD, which serves approximately 7,100 students across seven elementary schools, two middle schools, two high schools, and a community-based 4K program, currently has three SROs. These officers are provided by the City of Middleton Police Department, with one additional officer from the Village of Cross Plains Police Department.
In the future, the City of Fitchburg Police Department will provide the fourth SRO. The new officer will be based at Middleton High School, making it the school with two dedicated SROs. It's worth noting that all SROs in the district are trained first responders, including Asher Torbek, the district's safety and security coordinator.
Asher Torbek, a trained first responder with a wealth of experience, will be joining The Morning Show to discuss the new safety measures in place. Superintendent Dr. Dana Monogue encourages students and staff to use the free, Speak Up, Speak Out Wisconsin tip line if they see something concerning.
Speak Up, Speak Out Wisconsin can be contacted by calling 1-800-MY-SUSO-1 to speak to a live, trained SUSO Analyst. Alternatively, you can text "SUSO" to 738477 to receive a link to an anonymous P3 tip form.
