Enhanced Safety Measures on Motorcycle Routes: Joint Action Day Summary in Hagen, Siegen-Wittgenstein, and Märk District by Three Authorities for Improved Motorcycle Safety
In an effort to enhance traffic safety and prevent motorcycle accidents, a large-scale action day was conducted by the police forces in Hagen, Siegen-Wittgenstein, and Märkischer Kreis on May 18, 2025.
The day began with police officers carrying out speed and vehicle checks at several control points in Hagen. Traffic safety advisors were also present at the Hengsteysee, where motorcyclists had the opportunity to examine airbag vests and test "drunk goggles".
In Siegen-Wittgenstein, traffic safety advisors set up an information stand in the "applause curve" between Hilchenbach and Netphen, where they conducted numerous preventive conversations. Motorcyclists were particularly addressed and sensitized to the dangers, with accident videos being shown to car drivers.
The German Red Cross was involved in the joint control day, demonstrating first aid in the "applause curve" on the Nordhelle.
Representatives of DEKRA supported the checks in Hagen, and around 140 speeding offenses (cars and motorcycles) and several mobile phone offenses were recorded. No technical issues were found during checks on all motorcycles in Siegen-Wittgenstein.
In Wilnsdorf and Burbach, around 2,500 cars and motorcycles were measured in speed checks, and approximately 130 (including 12 motorcycles) were found to be driving too fast.
In the Märkischer Kreis, 35 motorcyclists were caught driving too fast during speed measurements and vehicle checks. The police authority found technical defects on a total of 13 motorcycles in the Märkischer Kreis, such as issues with tires or exhaust systems.
One motorcyclist was measured 56 km/h over the speed limit in Hagen and now faces a potential driving ban. Another motorcyclist from Lünen was unable to present the required driver's license for his Honda, leading to the initiation of a criminal procedure against him on suspicion of driving without a license.
The fastest motorcyclist in Siegen-Wittgenstein was measured at 151 km/h with his Kawasaki, exceeding the permitted speed of 100 km/h.
The police authority that took the lead in the joint action day of the police forces in Hagen, Siegen-Wittgenstein, and Märkischer Kreis on May 18, 2025, is not specified in the available search results.
The three police authorities wish all motorcyclists a safe season and appeal for responsible driving. Similar deployments are already planned for the future. For further questions, please contact the Circular Police Authority Siegen-Wittgenstein at the provided email or website.
