Enhanced traffic circle intended to boost road security
Villajoyosa is set for significant transportation improvements with the construction of a new roundabout and extensions to the cycle lane network. The roundabout project, situated at the junction leading to Boulevard 3 of PP 33 and the Talaies area, is expected to cost €861,012 and take six months to complete.
The roundabout project, commissioned by an unidentified party, aims to improve the flow of traffic and reduce risks for both drivers and pedestrians. It will offer safer access to nearby businesses and residential areas, and will be connected to the existing cycle lane network in PP 33. One of the new stretches of the cycle lane network will link the new roundabout to the local funeral home.
The roundabout, which will have five entry and exit lanes, is also set to enhance the aesthetic and functional value of Villajoyosa's main entrance. Upgraded pavements will improve pedestrian access, while new street lighting will ensure safety at night. The roundabout is expected to provide the area with functionality suitable for its location.
In addition to the roundabout, work is about to begin on a new accessible boulevard in the El Torres industrial area. These projects form part of a wider plan to improve mobility in Villajoyosa.
Mayor Marcos Zaragoza stated that the purpose of the new roundabout is to regulate traffic at the mentioned junction. Improvements to the drinking water supply and stormwater drainage are also part of the roundabout project.
The roundabout project is just one part of Villajoyosa's ongoing efforts to modernise its infrastructure. Whether you're a resident or a visitor, these improvements are sure to make your journey through Villajoyosa smoother and more enjoyable.
