Enhancing the Reusability of Multilayer Barrier Films Used in Photovoltaic Devices

In a recent development, Syensqo Specialty Polymers, a leading player in the specialty polymers industry, hosted a webinar focusing on the latest advancements in recycling technologies for packaging structures that utilise their key products, Ixan® PVDC and Diofan® PVDC.

The webinar, now available on demand for viewing, was led by Domenico Ferrari, the Project Leader for Sustainability & Strategic Initatives at Syensqo. Ferrari, who joined the company in an unspecified year, has been instrumental in driving the company's sustainability initiatives.

Federico Baruffi, the Global Marketing Manager for Packaging at Syensqo, also played a significant role in the webinar. Baruffi, who joined Syensqo in 2019, has worked in various technical and marketing positions at the company. Prior to Syensqo, he earned a PhD in Manufacturing Engineering from the Technical University of Denmark and a Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering from Politecnico di Milano, Italy. Baruffi is also recognised for his expertise in micro injection molding for medical devices.

The packaging industry is undergoing significant transformations due to the increased importance of recycling packaging structures. Syensqo's webinar aimed to provide insights into effective methods for recycling PVDC Multi-layer Barrier Films, with a particular focus on the sustainable advantages of Ixan® PVDC and Diofan® PVDC in advanced packaging applications.

The webinar discussed the challenges associated with recycling multilayer packaging structures, which are characterised by their complex composition and high barrier requirements. Syensqo's solutions were presented as key to overcoming these challenges and contributing to a more sustainable packaging industry.

Ixan® PVDC and Diofan® PVDC are key products in high barrier packaging, often used in food and pharmaceutical packaging. These products are known for their ability to provide excellent barrier properties, ensuring the protection of sensitive products during transportation and storage.

For more information about the webinar and Syensqo's sustainability and recycling strategies, interested parties can access the recording on demand. The speaker bios for Domenico Ferrari and Federico Baruffi are forthcoming.
