On Thursday, September 11, 2025, a special event is taking place in Hamm, Germany. A commemorative lecture on the Auschwitz Trials, which began in 1963, will be held at the Heinrich-von-Kleist-Forum. This historic event, initiated by General Prosecutor Fritz Bauer, first made the full extent of Nazi crimes publicly visible.
The lecture, organised in cooperation with the Hamm History Association, FUgE, and the Hamm Left Forum, will provide valuable historical insights into the significance of the Auschwitz trials for society then and now. It will also delve into what conclusions we can draw from history.
The event is free to attend, but registration is recommended. Interested individuals can register online at www.vhshamm.de or by phone at 02381-17-5600. The lecture will take place at 6:30 PM.
Witness testimonies from the Auschwitz trials significantly influenced historical research, making this lecture an important opportunity for learning and reflection. The event is part of a remembrance event for NS victims, scheduled at the former OLG Hamm.
