Gießen Crime Prevention Award to Return in 2026
The Association for Crime Prevention Gießen, in partnership with the city and district of Gießen, is set to honour exemplary projects and initiatives in crime prevention with the Crime Prevention Award once again in 2026.
The award, successfully inaugurated in 2024, aims to recognise commitment against crime and violence and highlight the actions taken in the region. The jury for the award includes high-ranking members such as the district administrator Anita Schneider and the mayor Frank-Tilo Becher.
The Association for Crime Prevention, which has been supporting projects in schools, kindergartens, and associations, and offering further training events since 1992, will award the Crime Prevention Award in 2026. The award is endowed with 1,500 €.
Projects in various sectors such as the school or youth sector, neighbourhood and association work, care for the elderly, or sports are sought for the award. Nominations by third parties are also possible. A brief description of the project, not exceeding one A4 page, is sufficient for application.
Individuals or organisations involved in local crime prevention work, such as municipal prevention councils or other community-based crime prevention initiatives, as typically coordinated by local authorities or crime prevention offices, are eligible to apply. The deadline for submission is December 31, 2025.
For more information and to submit applications or nominations, visit the Association for Crime Prevention Gießen's website at www.kriminalpraevention-our website. The chairman of the Association for Crime Prevention, Siegfried Schulz, expressed hope that the award could serve as an impetus for others to also engage.
The award is supported by the district of Gießen, the city of Gießen, the Police Presidency of Central Hesse, and the State School Office.
