Evangelizing Mallorca over a decade's span

Palma de Mallorca, the popular tourist destination in Europe, has become a hub for faith-based activities this summer. Over the past ten years, various evangelical initiatives have been taking place, led by the Neocatechumenal Way and collaborating closely with Spanish church parishes.

One of the most notable events is Reach Mallorca, an annual summer outreach programme organised by young Christians from Germany and Switzerland. This year, over 300 participants are sharing the gospel near the "Mega Park" on Platja de Palma from 2 to 11 August, a record-breaking number.

The activities range from evening services on the beach, where worship, rap, and short preaching explain the gospel, to daily worship services on boats, organised in cooperation with Spanish church communities. A party boat with a Christian DJ is offering free sailing along the beautiful beaches and bays of Cala Rajada, bringing together music and faith.

In Magaluf, a notorious party destination, Street Angels are working tirelessly every night. These volunteers go to the British party zone to help tourists safely, provide basic aid, and ensure everyone is having fun in a safe and responsible manner. They collaborate closely with door staff, police, and local traders to maintain a harmonious atmosphere.

The interest in God and spiritual topics among German visitors to Mallorca is evident. Various evangelistic activities with music and children's activities have been held in Palma, while in Cala Rajada, a music and art activity brought together about 500 people.

Interactive initiatives, such as the 'miracle chair' and a mirror with a question about feelings, are used to start relevant conversations. Participants wear a T-shirt with the name of the event, "Reach Mallorca".

The highlight of the events was the baptism of seventeen people on the beach during the Reach Mallorca event. The ongoing challenge for sustainability at Evangelical Focus is to continue these activities and reach more people in the coming years.
