Event Title: Illuminated Night
On the 24th and 22nd of October, the cities of Lünen, Bergkamen, and Unna will be bathed in light as they host a series of captivating events celebrating the art of light.
The Light Art Journey, a unique exploration of light art, will commence in Lünen on the 24th, with tickets available for purchase in advance for 20 € at the Lünen Cultural Office since the 25th of October, 2025. The journey will proceed to Bergkamen and Unna, offering visitors a chance to witness temporary light art installations and engage with renowned artists.
One such artist is Martin Pfeifle, a Düsseldorf-based artist and sculptor, who will speak about his light art piece "radial" at the Museum Stadt Lünen on the 22nd of October. "Radial" has been serving as a "city gate" every night at Lange Straße in Lünen since 2016. Following Martin's talk, award-winning filmmaker Thomas Riedelsheimer will show his film "Tracing Light - the Magic of Light", a film that delves into significant natural phenomena, featuring outstanding scientists and artists who work with light.
The Night of Light Art event in Lünen will begin on the 24th of October at 6:30 PM, combining visits to light artworks, special temporary light art projects, and a guided tour through the Centre for International Light Art. Maja Funke, a student of the concept artist Mischa Kuball, will speak about her temporary light installation "Leuchten", which will be on display in Lünen for twelve days starting on the 24th. The official presentation of "Leuchten" will take place at the Museum Stadt Lünen at 8 PM on the 24th. Maja will also speak about her work at the site of her temporary installation.
In Bergkamen, Till Schwennbeck's temporary light installation will be on display. The Light Art Journey will conclude in Unna with a guided tour through the exhibition "Light-Land-Scapes".
Admission to the conversation and film evening on the 22nd of October and the presentation of the temporary light art work on the 24th of October is free, but registration is required. The meeting point for the Light Art Journey is the Heinz-Hilpert-Theater.
