Suspects Banned from Euskirchen Station After Attempted Theft
In an unusual incident that occurred at Euskirchen station on the evening of August 19th, police officers apprehended a 45-year-old man and a 26-year-old woman who were attempting to steal a bicycle and an e-scooter.
The incident unfolded at around 11:45 PM when suspicious noises were heard in the bicycle parking area of the station. The officers, on patrol, approached the scene and observed the suspects attempting to break the locks of the bicycles and the e-scooter.
Upon being approached, the pair fled. The man continued his escape, turning into Hochstraße and hiding in some bushes, while the woman stopped on Alleestraße. The man was later found and checked by the police officers in the bushes on Hochstraße. The woman ended her escape on Alleestraße on her own.
A backpack containing bolt cutters was found on the man, and the tools and backpack were confiscated by the police officers. The woman claimed that the backpack wasn't hers when asked. The man, on the other hand, claimed that the backpack wasn't his either.
No damages were found on the bicycles or the e-scooter after the incident. A report was filed for the attempted theft. As a result of their actions, both individuals were given a ban from the premises of Euskirchen station.
The police did not release the names of the suspects, citing ongoing investigations. Both individuals are currently under investigation for attempted theft. The incident serves as a reminder for all commuters to be vigilant and secure their belongings while at the station.
