Ex-Green Bay Packers quarterback alleged to have strangled a bartender
In a surprising turn of events, a former NFL player found himself in trouble with the law after an incident at a local bar.
On the evening of August 29, police were called to Brother's Bar in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, following a report of a man choking an employee. Upon arrival, officers met with 61-year-old Donald Majkowski, a former Green Bay Packers quarterback, outside the bar.
According to the police report, Majkowski was "extremely intoxicated" at the time of the incident. The report further states that he was involved in a physical altercation with a bartender at the bar. Another bartender was called to help, at which point Majkowski allegedly grabbed the second bartender's throat.
The victim in the incident was a bartender at Brother's Bar. A witness reported that Majkowski and another man were pushing each other before the incident escalated. The bar staff intervened, trying to separate the two men, and eventually escorted Majkowski outside after the altercation.
Online court records show that Majkowski was cited for disorderly conduct. His court-appointed defense attorney in Wisconsin is Michael Fitzgerald. In a statement, Majkowski claimed that he was "jumped" because "boyfriends of the girls at the bar were jealous of him because he was a prior NFL player."
Donald Majkowski played quarterback for the Green Bay Packers from 1987 to 1992. He is best known for his role in the team's Super Bowl victory in 1996. Since his retirement from football, Majkowski has been living in the Eau Claire area.
This incident serves as a reminder that even former professional athletes are not immune to the consequences of their actions. The investigation is ongoing, and further updates will be provided as they become available.
