The Bar Council of India (BCI) has announced the exam pattern and marking scheme for the All India Bar Examination (AIBE) 2025. The national-level exam, scheduled for an undisclosed date in 2025, aims to serve as a minimum benchmark for entering into the practice of law in India.

The AIBE 2025 will consist of 100 multiple-choice questions, distributed across various law subjects. Candidates are advised to analyze the exam pattern before planning their strategy.

The AIBE 2025 will test the knowledge of law graduates in a wide range of subjects. The Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the new Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, the Evidence Act & Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam, and the Law of Tort, including the Motor Vehicle Act and Consumer Protection Law, will each have 8 questions. Constitutional law will have 10 questions, while Professional Ethics & Cases of Professional Misconduct under Bar Council of India Rules, Law of Contract, Specific Relief, Property Laws, Negotiable Instrument Act, and Alternative Dispute Redressal including Arbitration Act will each have 4 questions.

Additionally, the Code of Civil Procedure (CPC), Cr.P.C. (Criminal Procedure Code) & (New) Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, Law related to Taxation, Labour & Industrial Law, Environmental Law, Land Acquisition Act, and Intellectual Property Laws will each have 2 questions. Administration Law will have 3 questions, and Cyber Law and Public Interest Litigation will each have 2 questions.

The marking scheme for the AIBE 2025 awards 1 mark for each correct answer, with no negative marking for incorrect or unattempted questions. The minimum passing percentage for General/OBC candidates is 45%, while for SC/ST, Disabled candidates, and others, it is 40%.

The AIBE 2025 will be an offline test, and the exam duration is 3 hours and 30 minutes. The Bar Council of India will release the AIBE 2025 exam pattern and marking scheme on their official website.

Candidates are encouraged to stay updated on the AIBE 2025 by regularly visiting the BCI's official website. Last year, the AIBE exam had 19 law subjects, and it is expected that the AIBE 2025 will follow a similar pattern. The exact date of the AIBE 2025 is not publicly available or specified at this time.
