A significant development is underway in Wiesbaden, as a new project aims to alleviate the city's tense housing market and strengthen its health location. The project, led by a self-managed, cooperative organisation, will see the construction of staff apartments for employees of the nearby HSK, along with green outdoor spaces, a neighbourhood square, and a children's playground.

The organisation, known as GWW, has been granted a sub-lease right by Angela Tausendpfund, CEO of EGW, to realise the project on the HSK site. GWW is investing around 50 million euros in the development, with the apartments ranging from one-room to six-room units, suitable for shared living.

The apartments will be designed with sustainability in mind, featuring wooden hybrid construction and combining modern architecture with eco-friendly features. Heating will be provided via district heating, and the roofs will be greened and equipped with photovoltaic systems.

The project's goal is to offer people a long-term home that is more than just four walls, with social infrastructure playing an important part. This includes a neighbourhood square, children's playground, shopping opportunities, and strong public transportation connections.

The construction work is being carried out by the general contractor B&O, with ten buildings set to be constructed by autumn 2027, totalling around 12,500 square metres. The buildings will all feature balconies, underfloor heating, and mechanical ventilation.

The development is seen as a milestone by Milena Loebcke, Chairperson of the Supervisory Board of Helios HSK and Health Department Head, who believes it will help secure skilled workers and strengthen the healthy city of Wiesbaden. HSK CEO Rungfa Saligmann also emphasised the central importance of the project for the clinic and healthcare provision.

The press release for this project was published by the Press Office of the State Capital Wiesbaden. The new staff apartments are expected to make a positive impact on the city, providing much-needed affordable housing for new trainees and employees, and contributing to the overall health and wellbeing of Wiesbaden.
