Examining and Deterring Memory Loss Disorders, Specifically Dementia

The Landshut City Library and the Lower Bavaria Dementia and Care Specialty Center are joining forces to host an enlightening event aimed at increasing understanding and empathy for those affected by dementia. The "Hands-on Dementia" exhibition and a lecture titled "Prevention of Dementia - Memory loss doesn't have to be a fate" will take place at the Salzstadel lecture hall on Tuesday, September 9th, and continue on Wednesday, 10th.

The "Hands-on Dementia" exhibition, open to the public, offers a personal and immersive experience, featuring 13 interactive stations designed to simulate the daily life of a person with dementia. The aim is to help visitors understand the challenges presented by dementia. Specialists from the Lower Bavaria Dementia and Care Specialty Center will be present on both days to accompany the exhibition.

On Tuesday, September 9th, at 13:30, a lecture by gerontologist Johanna Myllymäki will be held. This lecture will delve into current research findings and show how to reduce risks and strengthen memory in the long term. The lecture will last for one hour and will be followed by a Q&A session.

Admission to both the exhibition and the lecture is free and does not require registration. The exhibition will be open to visitors on Tuesday from 10:00 to 16:00 and on Wednesday from 10:00 to 12:00.

The Landshut City Library will also provide a selection of guidebooks and specialist literature on dementia for those interested in learning more about the topic. This collaboration between the Landshut City Library and the Lower Bavaria Dementia and Care Specialty Center is an exceptional opportunity for visitors to gain a better understanding of dementia and its impact on daily life.
