Wiesbaden Strengthens as a Healthcare City with New Staff Apartments
In a significant move to bolster Wiesbaden as a healthcare city, German construction company GWW is investing approximately 50 million euros in the construction of staff apartments for employees of the nearby Helios Hospital Wiesbaden (HSK).
The project, scheduled for completion by autumn 2027, will see the construction of ten buildings, totalling around 12,500 square metres of living space. These buildings will be constructed using wooden-hybrid technology, combining sustainability and modern architecture. Exterior and interior walls will be made of cross-laminated timber, and staircases will be in solid construction.
The apartments, ranging from one-room to six-room, will offer sizes from 38 square metres to 131 square metres. Each apartment will feature balconies, underfloor heating, and mechanical ventilation. The roofs of the buildings will be greened and equipped with photovoltaic systems.
The apartments are designed as HSK staff apartments and will be reserved for employees of the hospital. Green outdoor spaces, a neighborhood square, and a children's playground will also be created as part of the project.
Angela Tausendpfund, CEO of EGW, has granted GWW a sub-lease right for the construction of staff apartments on the HSK site. The Managing Director of HSK, Rungfa Saligmann, emphasized the central importance of the project for the clinic and healthcare provision.
Milena Löbcke, Chairwoman of the Supervisory Board of Helios HSK and Health Commissioner, considers the staff apartments a milestone in securing skilled workers and increasing the attractiveness of HSK as an employer.
The publisher of the press release is the Press Office of the State Capital Wiesbaden. The construction of HSK staff apartments is being carried out by the general contractor B&O.
Citizens with questions regarding the HSK staff apartments can contact the responsible department or office for more information. The investment in the HSK staff apartments is a significant contribution to strengthening Wiesbaden as a healthcare city.
The project is also a sign of urgently needed appreciation for nursing, medical-technical professions, and functional services. Prefabricated bathroom modules and reinforced concrete hollow-core slabs will also be used in the construction. Heating for the buildings will be provided by district heating.
