Expanded Artisanal Marketplace Opens in Altona
In the heart of Hamburg, a new artisan and industrial courtyard is rising, set to offer high-quality spaces for local artisans and businesses. This project, being developed by DESA Immobilien Verwaltungsgesellschaft GmbH & Co. KG, is a joint venture of Karsten Saft and Erik Depenbrock.
The 6,200 sqm courtyard, spanning six stories, is strategically located near the New Center Altona in Bahrenfeld. It is a testament to the city's and the real estate industry's commitment to expanding commercial offerings.
Erik Depenbrock, Managing Director of Depenbrock Bau - Group, will oversee the construction of this innovative space. The courtyard will boast multiple workshop areas, designed with a stacked construction approach for optimal use of space.
The project is a significant step towards sustainable urban development, as it utilises brownfield and conversion sites, thereby reducing consumption of open space. This approach lays the foundation for a more environmentally friendly cityscape.
The importance of neighbourhood-based supply by local artisan businesses has been emphasised by the Managing Director of Hamburg Invest, who sees this project as a crucial move to prevent local artisans from being displaced from inner-city areas.
Several new craft parks are in planning or already under construction in Hamburg, a trend that Michael Westhagemann, Hamburg's Senator of Economics, is pleased with. Dr. Stefanie von Berg, District Administrator of Altona, also supports the project, appreciating how it creates high-quality spaces for artisans and businesses alongside residential construction.
Notable companies such as Linde Gas, Hitachi Energy, and Continental have already signed up to be part of this dynamic new Craftsmen and Industrial Yard. The courtyard will also feature high workshop spaces on the ground floor and large, flexible spaces on the upper floors, making it an attractive proposition for a variety of businesses.
The project demonstrates that investing in stacked commercial and production spaces is attractive to private investors. The Depenbrock Group, with its decades of experience in handling complex construction projects and project development, is well-equipped to bring this vision to life.
The new artisan and industrial courtyard is set to be built near the new Diebsteich station in Ottensen, further enhancing its accessibility and appeal. As construction progresses, it promises to be a beacon of sustainable urban development and a boon for local artisans and businesses in Hamburg.
